DrFaver2009Dr. Cliff Faver

Dr. Cliff Faver, a 1987 graduate of Colorado State University, is the founder, director, and chief veterinarian of our beautiful facility. The clinic opened as a 3000 square foot building in the small town of Cave Creek, Arizona in 1994. A new location, encompassing more than 9000 square feet, and an additional 4 associate doctors later, the innovative state of the art veterinary hospital was born, complete with its own Intensive Care Unit, Lab, Ultrasound, and CT Scan equipment.     

Cliff is a permanent resident of the Cave Creek area, and a true lover of all animals. He has a special affection for Boxers, having raised several of his own, thus developing a unique signature ear crop procedure, lending visual recognition to all who have passed through his capable hands.     

Dr. Cliff Faver resides with his wife Koni and 2 children, Ross and Nikole.     


    

Dr. Tanya Wyman

Dr. Tanya Wyman, a graduate of Washington State University in 1996, became a permanent staff member in 1997. She is a resident of Northern Phoenix, sharing her home with a vocally opinionated feline. Although Dr. Wyman has vast experience catering to our dog and cat friends on a daily basis, she possesses an exceptional interest in Avian medicine, and sees quite a variety of winged patients annually as well. Her fun loving, youthful personality finds her participating in marathon events and assorted fund raisers throughout our community, proving her to be a most pleasant member of our outstanding medical staff.      

Dr. Wyman has 2 dogs, Carly (Dachshund) her ball chaser extraordinaire and Finn (Labrador Ret.) rescue dog that is funny and likes to go running with her. She also has 1 loud cat named Symon as well as her goldfish Ferris that she won at the fair. His claim to fame is that he is still alive!

Dr. William Prevatt

Dr. William Prevatt, a 1983 graduate of Colorado State University, joined the Animal Health Services medical staff in 2001. He is the owner of another lucrative veterinary practice located in Sierra Vista, Arizona, and successfully balances his time between the two. Dr. Prevatt pursues a special interest, along with extensive education, in all aspects of orthopedic surgery, fractures, and joint repair. He is a highly skilled precision surgeon, who remains well versed on the veterinary fields technological advancements, making excellent use of AHS state of the art diagnostic equipment and experienced support staff.     

Dr. William Prevatt enjoys spending quality time with his wife and children, playing golf whenever the time presents itself, and attending as many hockey games as possible. He proves to be a likable and extremely valuable member of our AHS community.     


    

Dr. Brian Ashmore

DrAshmore2009Brian Ashmore earned his doctorate in veterinary medicine at Colorado State University in the year 2000.  He arrived at Animal Health Services in the Spring of 2005 and has been an integral part of our team since his arrival.  Dr. Ashmore’s love for the Valley of the Sun comes naturally as a native Phoenician and he celebrates the beauty of our state as often as possible by camping and fishing.  He currently shares his house with his cat, Minnie, but hopes to soon add a dog to the mix.     

Professionally Dr. Ashmore has a passion for treating dental disease in dogs and cats. He cultivates this passion every year by obtaining many hours of continuing education related to pets’ teeth. Labrador Retrievers keep a special place in his heart but Dr. Ashmore sees any dog or cat no matter how big or how small.

Dr. Lisa Lannen

Lisa Lannen hails from Montana originally, where she went to undergraduate school in Bozeman. There she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in biological sciences in 1997. Also in 1997, she married her husband, Scott Lannen. With their many pets, they migrated to Ft. Collins, Colorado where Lisa attended Colorado State Veterinary School and Scott started teaching 7th and 8th graders. In 2001, Lisa graduated with a doctor of veterinary medicine degree. During her studies, Lisa developed an interest in avian and most exotic medicine and spent part of her senior year in Florida learning from Avery Bennett, DVM, a well-known avian/exotic specialist/surgeon. Lisa practiced in Windsor, CO for 2 years and also gained knowledge about various cancer treatments. In 2003, Lisa and
Scott packed up their pet family and relocated to Arizona.     

Scott now teaches high school chemistry and Lisa joined the Animal Health Services family in 2006, finding the right fit for practicing high quality medicine in the small community of Cave Creek. She enjoys spending time with clients and their family members, human and pets alike. Along with treating our dog and cat friends, Lisa hopes to keep expanding her knowledge about the avian and exotic species as well as focusing on offering treatment for cancer patients.     


    

Dr. Johanna DeKingDr. Johanna DeKing Animal Health Services

Dr. Johanna DeKing joined the Animal Health Services team in 2010. She graduated with honors (summa cum laude) from Arizona State University with a bachelor’s degree in Agribusiness. She graduated from Washington State University Veterinary Teaching Hospital in 2009 as a member of the Phi Zeta Veterinary Honor Society. Following graduation, she increased her knowledge in areas such as internal medicine, cardiology, oncology, emergency medicine and general community practice during a one year internship at Washington State University Veterinary Teaching Hospital.     

Dr. DeKing is originally from Aurora, IL and had lived in Wisconsin prior to moving to Arizona at the age of 13. Growing up she was always fascinated by science and medicine. Originally, Dr. DeKing planned on pursuing a career in human medicine but her love for animals quickly drew her into the pursuit of veterinary medicine. She has 3 “fur children”, Duncan, an Australian Shepherd, Gonzo, a Queensland Heeler and Boomer, a Border Collie Mix. She enjoys hiking, reading, cooking and spending as much time outdoors with her dogs as possible.     

 


Urgent Care Doctors    

Dr. Signe Plunkett

Dr. Plunkett is the Director for Animal Health Services 24/7 Urgent & Critical Care Center. Dr. Plunkett has over 25 years of emergency & critical care experience here in the Valley. She is the nationally recognized author of the textbook, Emergency Procedures for the Small Animal Veterinarian  (3rd Edition) and has been published in several veterinary periodicals and journals.   

Born in Michigan, Dr. Plunkett moved and grew up in Phoenix, AZ. She graduated from Greenway High School, attended Glendale Community College and Arizona State University. She graduated from Oregon State University College of Veterinary Medicine. She enjoys membership with several veterinary associations including AVMA, AzVMA, VECCS and Society of Critical Care Medicine. Her professional interests include critical care, toxicology and transfusion medicine.   

We are pleased to have her expertise and experience added to our team.  


  Dr. Lisa Schnier (not pictured)

Dr. Schnier is originally from Sierra Vista, Arizona having attended University of Arizona and University of Prince Edward Island for her undergraduate work. She graduated from the Atlantic Veterinary College in Prince Edward Island, Canada.  She has been involved in the veterinary field for over 10 years. Her professional interests focus on neurology, emergency and internal medicine.  

She and her husband Jonathan have 2 Siberian huskies, 2 cats, and a variety of reptiles. They enjoy hiking, kayaking and SCUBA diving.
