With RECOMBITEK® available, why clutter up the immune system with unnecessary proteins and adjuvants?

With RECOMBITEK® available, why clutter up the immune system with unnecessary proteins and adjuvants?

Clients depend on their veterinarians to choose which vaccines and at which frequency-are appropriate for their pets. Here at Animal Health Services we use only Merial vaccines with RECOMBITEK® technology following the vaccine guidelines from the American Animal Hospital Association.
What is RECOMBITEK® technology?
Merial’s RECOMBITEK family of canine vaccines consists of pure vaccines – without adjuvant chemicals that have the potential to trigger allergic reactions and site reactions. RECOMBITEK vaccines are technically advanced and are formulated to protect your pet against a wide range of illness and disease.
The efficacy benefits of modified-live vaccines: The known efficacy advantages of modified-live vaccines over killed products are:
  • Stimulation of both cell-mediated and humoral responses for rapid protection.(1,2)
  • Prolonged protection for use inthree-year vaccination intervals.(1,2)
  • Ability to overcome maternally-derived antibody interference.(2)

Merial’s RECOMBITEK family includes vaccines that protect against:

• Canine Distemper:

Canine distemper, also known as hardpad disease, is a systemic, very contagious, potentially fatal viral disease. It causes fever, runny nose, cough, and vomiting, progressing to twitching muscles or seizures.

• Canine Parvovirus:

Parvo is an acute, potentially fatal disease of the gastrointestinal tract and, less commonly, the heart muscle. Although dogs of all ages are susceptible, puppies are more at risk. Symptoms include vomiting, bloody diarrhea, fever and dehydration. Since these symptoms can indicate other diseases as well, the veterinarian will confirm a diagnosis of parvoviral infection by examining the feces.

• Canine Adenovirus Type 1 & 2:

These viruses are responsible for the development of canine hepatitis, a contagious, potentially fatal disease that affects the liver and other body organs. Young dogs, less than one year of age, are particularly susceptible. Symptoms include sore throat, coughing, cloudy “bluish” eyes, seizures, increased thirst, vomiting, and diarrhea.

• Canine Parainfluenza:

Canine parainfluenza is a chronic, viral contagious respiratory disease that is involved in opportunistic canine infections. It is characterized by a cough.

• Canine Coronavirus:

Coronavirus is a highly contagious gastrointestinal disease affecting dogs at any age. Show dogs and dogs in boarding kennels are most susceptible. The symptoms are less severe in adult dogs than in puppies, and include vomiting, diarrhea, loss of appetite, fever and depression. Signs are more dramatic if other infections, such as parvovirus, are also present.

• Canine Leptosporosis:

Leptospirosis is a contagious bacterial infection caused by organisms that can survive in surface waters for extended periods. Animals and humans can become infected by ingesting contaminated feed or water. Symptoms include sudden slight weakness, loss of appetite, vomiting, fever, and mild conjunctivitis in the early stage. Later stages of the disease are characterized by labored breathing, strong thirst, back pain, and abrasion-like patches in the mouth.

• Kennel Cough:

Kennel Cough or infectious tracheobronchitis, is an extremely contagious infection of the upper respiratory tract. It can spread rapidly among susceptible animals in an environment such as a boarding kennel. Though the disease is generally mild it can be serious or even fatal in puppies and can cause chronic bronchitis in older dogs and dogs with other illnesses. It is characterized by harsh dry coughing, followed by retching and gagging. In more severe cases kennel cough can be present along with a systemic infection such as distemper. • Lyme Disease:

Lyme disease, also known as Borreliosis, is caused by the Borrelia burgdorferi bacteria, and is transmitted by the black-legged tick (deer tick). The disease can affect both animals and humans. Symptoms include fever, which may become chronic, along with other signs such as loss of appetite, lethargy and swollen lymph nodes. Neurological, cardiac, kidney, and reproductive symptoms can also occur.

Made using recombinant canarypox-vector vaccine technology, with RECOMBITEK® Ditemper you get the efficacy your pet requires, without risk of shedding, reversion to virulence or post-vaccinal encephalitis.

Made using recombinant canarypox-vector vaccine technology, with RECOMBITEK® Distemper you get the efficacy your pet requires, without risk of shedding, reversion to virulence or post-vaccinal encephalitis.

RECOMBITEK®  Distemper

Because of it’s unique canarypox-vectored vaccine technology, RECOMBITEK® Ditemper vaccine stimulates immunity in a manner similar to modified-live vaccines.

At the same time, RECOMBITEK® Distemper vaccine technology cannot revert to virulence, so it provides safety advantages typically assigned to killed vaccines, such as:

  • Safe in immunosuppressed animals and puppies.(1,2)
  • Cannot cause deadly distemper, the disease it is designed to prevent.
