CUSTOMER SERVICE
Every staff member at Animal Health Services prides themselves on offering a high level of customer service. We feel that the success of our clinic hinges on the level of service we give to our customers. In a day and age that customer service has gone by the way side, we’d like to let our customers know that we offer customer service “the way it used to be”.
PREVENTATIVE MEDICINE
Animal Health Services recommends a physical exam on your pet every 6 months. A pet will age approximately seven years for every one year that goes by. There are a lot of changes that can occur in your pets body over a 6 month period and we want to ensure the well-being of each and every pet. By following our recommendation of 6 month wellness exams, you will be taking a giant step towards preventing many illnesses that take our loved ones away from us.
DIGITAL RADIOGRAPHY
Digital Radiography offers many benefits to the pets and their pet care providers. With the use of computer software, radiographic images can be enhanced so we get a perfect shot every time, the first time. This software will also allow us to reduce the amount of radiation exposure to your pet and our staff. By using digital radiography, we eliminate the need for hazardous chemicals and bulky x-ray film. Furthermore, all images can be transmitted via e-mail to the pet owners and/or a veterinary specialist for evaluation. The addition of digital radiography is another service that signifies our efforts to provide excellent veterinary medicine in a state of the art facility.
ULTRASOUND
Animal Health Services now offers ultrasound technology performed by our doctors. We have purchased a state of the art ultrasound machine called the My Lab 50. This machine provides the newest and most advanced technology available in our field. This technology allows us to share the images with specialists via the internet or by saving to a disc and having the images reviewed locally if the case warrants.
CT SCAN (COMPUTED TOMOGRAPHY)
Animal Health Services is one of about 5 veterinary hospitals in Arizona to offer Computed Tomography (CT Scan). A CT scan is a valuable diagnostic tool that assists in the diagnosis of problems in the brain, middle ear, spinal cord, joints, and even internal organs.
TELEMEDICINE
This is a new concept that very few veterinary offices are able to offer. Telemedicine is where testing is performed on a pet here in our office. The test results are then sent by e-mail to some of the best specialists in the country for evaluation. This allows our clients to get the best service available without leaving Cave Creek. Most results are reported the same day as the procedure or at least the very next day. Another benefit of this service is that the cost is actually less than if you went to visit the specialist in person.
ORTHOPEDIC SURGERY
Dr. William Prevatt offers complete surgical repair of any type of orthopedic condition. He is able to repair fractures, ligament and tendon tears, and many orthopedic defects such as luxating patellas.
ARTHROSCOPY
Dr. William Prevatt is one of the few veterinarians in Arizona now offering this service. Arthroscopy allows Dr. Prevatt to evaluate specific joints without a major skin incision and with minimal trauma to the joint.
ENDOSCOPY
Animal Health Services offers endoscopy as one of our many services. Endoscopy is utilized to remove foreign objects from a pets stomach, throat, or intestine. Endsocopy is also used as a diagnostic tool allowing us to view the insides of the gastrointestinal tract as well as obtaining biopsies when necessary.
LAPAROSCOPY
With the use of fiber optics, we are able to perform some surgical procedures using a laparoscope. The advantages of laparoscopy are 3 small incisions versus a very large midline incision for major surgical procedures, a less invasive means of surgery, and a quicker recovery after the procedure. 2 procedures we are able to accomplish using a laparoscope are tacking the stomach of a large breed dog to prevent “bloat” or removing a retained testicle. Both of these procedures would normally require a large incision to accomplish without a laparoscope.
VETERINARY ORTHOPEDIC MANIPULATIONS
Some of our doctors are now offering veterinary orthopedic manipulation which is a chiropractic type procedure. These adjustments are designed to reprogram the nerves, relax the muscles and help reduce pain associated with arthritis and injuries through the use of passive, non-physical methods. Bring your pet in for their V.O.M. treatment and help relieve their pain.
ADVANCED DENTAL CARE
Dr. Brian Ashmore has completed extensive continuing education to improve our dental program. Dr. Ashmore is able to offer root canals and some restoration work to avoid extractions of damaged teeth. We also have equipped the hospital with digital dental radiography. This technology offers a more advanced evaluation of your pet’s dental needs. Digital dental radiography is also much quicker in producing images of the teeth, which will shorten the length of time a pet is under anesthesia.

Animal Health Services offers laser surgery for all procedures that require a skin incision. Laser usage reduces painfulness in your pet because the incision is less traumatic than the standard scalpel blade incision. In addition to less pain, laser also offers a quicker healing time and a lower incidence of infection.
SPA SERVICES
Animal Health Services has recently opened the Tender Paw Day Spa. Michelle Knowles will be operating the facility that is so much more than a grooming parlor. Michelle has been grooming dogs for over 20 years and is certified by the National Dog Groomers Association of America. Our day spa offers routine grooms such as bath & brush or sanitary trims as well as spa therapies using a product line called Iv San Bernard. Iv San Bernard is the leading line of animal care products in Europe. Using this line of products Michelle is able to help relieve the itching from allergies, re-grow damaged hair, and restore natural pigmentation.
MICROCHIP IDENTIFICATION
Have you ever experienced the loss of a missing pet? The Avid Chip is a tiny microchip that contains a personal, one-of-a-kind identification number. It’s injected under the skin of your pet where it remains safely for life. If you pet should become lost, most shelters will scan for the chip number and then contact you to bring your loved one home.
NUTRITIONAL CONSULTATION
The doctors and staff of Animal Health Services believe strongly that nutritional consultation is one of the most important things we do for the health of your pet. We spend many hours in continuing education to provide the latest information available. One of our biggest concerns is the poor advice our clients receive from sources that have not been educated properly about nutritional guidelines.
PET PORTALS
Animal Health Services now offers our clients access to their pet’s medical records online. Using a website called Pet Portals, you are able to view medical history, vaccination history, and all reminders that are due for your pet. The site also includes our newsletter as well as articles that are pertinent to the veterinary field. On this website, our clients are able to request appointments as well as refill authorization for their medications.
IN-HOUSE LABORATORY
We are able to perform the majority of our patients bloodwork right on site in our hospital. This means we have results much quicker, and can start treatment a lot sooner. We also use an off site laboratory for second opinions, and for some specialized testing.
INTERNAL MEDICINE
The doctors of Animal Health Services are able to provide in depth internal medicine. Utilizing our state of the art diagnostic tools, we are able to diagnose and treat many difficult cases right here in our hospital.
SURGERY
We offer all types of surgical procedures such as routine spays and neuters, growth removals, and even aesthetic procedures such as ear crops and tail docking. All of our surgeries are performed using a CO2 laser. Laser surgery accounts for less pain for your pet, a quicker healing time, and a much safer surgical experience in relation to bleeding or complications from excessive bleeding during surgery.
VACCINES
Animal Health Services offers complete vaccines for your pet. It is important to receive your pet’s vaccines from a veterinarian as we are also able to assess your pet’s physical condition. Also, for new puppy and kitten owners, our staff can help educate clients in the proper care and preventative medicine that will help to keep your pet around for a long time.
